Glock 19x Review - Reviewing the GLOCK thing is like reviewing the Air. We all breathe it constantly, it is always around. It is a common thing that we all tend to take it for granted until it doesn't exist. Now, I'm not saying GLOCKs are necessary to keep for life, but the new 19X is certainly a breath of fresh air.
First, it's helpful to know what the GLOCK 19X is and what it isn't. It is basically a G19 slide on a G17 frame. But a funny thing happened when it was announced and released earlier this year.

I have seen photos of the original guns submitted to the Army's Modular Pistol System competition. I think the GLOCK entry is very cool and different from the rest of what they offer. I naturally wanted to get my hands on it and figured they would eventually make a version available to the public. I'm not bad.

If you've been living under a rock for the past year or so, I have news for you: GLOCK lost the MHS bid on the P320 XM17/18 SIG SAUER variants, and confusion ensued in firearms forums and publications.
Did the military get the P320 wrong as their new military weapon? Some seem to think so, others don't. Oddly enough, the GLOCK variant, now known as the GLOCK 19X, was not met with a heroic reception when it hit the civilian market a few months ago.
I sorted out the negatives and settled on the 19X glove, mostly because it's a damn cool gun and offers some features I'd like to see in a full size pistol. I am surprised that the general internet people and others in the gun culture are not happy with this.
He thinks the 19X has a lot of potential, but my opinion seems to fall on deaf ears. I have talked to many of my friends and colleagues in professional media circles and they like the idea of releasing a military version to the public. So what went wrong?

I have talked to many people and found that consumers feel that with the 19X, Glock introduced an unnecessary gun. They would rather see a G17 slide on a G19 frame. Or even a G19 slide and a G26 frame. The idea is that a shorter grip and longer sight radius are better for concealed carry.
I don't agree with the concept because I like short barrels and short grips, but that's me. The thing I heard about the 19X is that GLOCK didn't listen to the consumer, but that's wrong. People want MHS pistols and they are available now. If you don't like it, please don't buy it. If they hadn't released the 19X, people in the forums and comment areas would have cried about it too.
So let's get to the review. In the few weeks I've been using the 19X, I've shot over 2,000 rounds with it. I don't know what some of the first YouTube idiots did with this gun to make it jam (probably to generate more views and some artificially created controversy on the videos) because the thing works like the GLOCK it always seems to be. trust away, I have nothing to rave about.
I shot everything from cheap balls to top-of-the-line Lehigh defense shipments and experienced zero failures. I remember when this gun first came out, they said it had a lot of trouble, but I didn't see anything. In fact, it is so reliable that my tests are almost boring.

For 2,000 rounds, I did not clean the gun at all. I didn't mess with the sights, I didn't change the trigger, I didn't even bother taking it apart to wipe the copper colored lube. I just took the pistol, brought it to the range, and began to ring the steel.
One of the features of the 19X is Glock's new Marksman Barrel. The barrel is rifled differently than the GLOCK rifling used in conventional pistols. This improved polygonal rifle is a real improvement over older rifles, and I have noticed that the 19X shows excellent accuracy for polymer framed guns.
Part of the accuracy is also thanks to the 19X's improved Gen5 trigger, which GLOCKophiles have always loved. The trigger of the GLOCK has always been the weak point of the pistols. Usable, but certainly nothing to rave about. They created a market for Ghost Triggers.
But with GLOCK making changes to almost every aspect of the trigger assembly (trigger lever, plunger, spring assembly, and detent), GLOCK's Gen5 triggers are a breath of fresh air and a huge improvement over past models. They may not be able to completely beat Ghost Trigger, but they are a big step up from the old mushy "sproing" that many shooters have come to know and tolerate.

As I mentioned before, I have fired thousands of rounds with this pistol, and I have not timed or measured the accuracy of all loads. The data here was recorded on my Oehler 35P chronograph at 5 feet from the muzzle at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Accuracy is measured in inches at 25 yards, averaging four sets of five.
The barrel, at least for me, is a significant improvement over traditional options. I have always found that barrel and accuracy are areas where I could improve on many of the GLOCK pistols I have owned in the past. The increased accuracy is a huge plus, as I don't have to chase targets or expect bugs in my targets.
Moving on, the most visually striking feature of the 19X is the color scheme. The NPVD coated grips are the first colored grips available from the Glock factory. The finish is very good with no signs of wear, even with my polymer case.
This frame has some differences from the Gen 5 pistol. The 19X is basically a part of the Gen 5 family, but not a full member due to some differences in the frame. It lacks the flared magazines commonly found on other Gen 5 guns, but adds a unique lanyard buckle and a flared finger rest on the front near the pinky rest. In addition to these features, the grip lacks finger grooves, which is an improvement in itself.
G19x And Mini Review
It has been the subject of much controversy regarding this flu. The full size grips hold my hand well and are easier than the standard G19 grips. People with large hands like me feel like we are stuck in the handle in many situations, but this is not the case here.
Another set of features I found to be a favorite of this gun is its night vision and its own slide stop. Both come standard and are powerful. There is an invisible function inside the slideshow. The gun has marine spring cups that allow water to flow from the entire firing assembly. It's a small addition, but for someone who loves the outdoors like myself, it gives peace of mind when near rivers and open water.
Finally, the 19X comes with three magazines, one 17-round and two 19-round. I usually leave 17 rounds in the gun for others to have ready. I don't know how many people will bring the full capacity of 19+1, but it is available if you want.
The GLOCK 19X is a very strong, very reliable and accurate firearm that is somewhat unique on the market today. I hope GLOCK continues to break its design barriers and make more guns like the 19X. I would like to see a 19 frame with 26 barrel and slide. Despite the controversy surrounding the 19X in recent months, there's a good chance that the 19X will make you and your security very happy. No firearm on the market offers as many unique features as the 19X. It may not look like your classic GLOCK, but it shoots better.

This is by far the most accurate out of the box GLOCK I've ever driven, and I've driven most of them. The shooter's barrel is a big improvement.
While it is an improvement over previous generations, this is still a GLOCK and I still don't like the strap system they use to adjust the grip size. All in all, in my hands, it is a very comfortable gun that shoots and handles great.
I might get into trouble for a review, but the 19X shoots well, handles well, and even looks good. The third magazine is definitely an advantage.
